Next Steps
Meet.
The first step is to meet with your family, gather information, and hear everyone’s perspectives, and concerns. Usually the meeting occurs without your elderly loved one present. This allows for open, frank discussion about the situation while at the same time avoiding undue stress for your loved one.
The meeting can be in-person at a family member’s home or over Zoom.
Assess.
The second step is to assess your elderly loved one in their own home. This allows for observation in a familiar, less stressful environment. I will engage them in social conversation, administer cognitive testing, and observe their physical abilities. The assessment combined with family input, allows us to establish what resources will be most appropriate.
Plan.
The third step involves sharing my recommendations and facilitating family conversation, culminating in a customized care plan. I will help you understand your options for determining your next steps and assist you with navigating senior-care resources.
The meeting can be in-person at a family member’s home or over Zoom.
